Features
-
Templates or from scratch
Template packs for Tabata, HIIT, Strength, Bodyweight and Core — or build a custom session and save it alongside them.
-
Segments in your units
Set each segment in meters, reps or seconds. Reorder them freely, and switch the whole app between metric and imperial.
-
iPhone and Apple Watch
Run a session from either one. The active session, your settings, saved trainings and history sync automatically between them.
-
Live distance on runs
Running segments can track real distance as you cover it, with location access that stays optional.
-
Controls that forgive
Pause, resume, skip a segment, or undo a recent action. A mistimed tap doesn't cost you the session.
-
History with splits
Every finished session is kept with its split times, so you can see the whole workout back rather than just a total.
Screenshots
Total, split and progress on the Watch, with the current exercise and a Complete button. Active sessions, settings, saved trainings and history sync with the phone automatically.
Start from scratch or a template, add exercises, set each segment in meters, reps or seconds, reorder them, then save the whole thing as a named training you can run again.
How it works
-
Pick your mode
Choose a template pack, one of your saved trainings, or build a custom session by adding exercises and setting each segment.
-
Start and keep moving
The app runs the clock through work and rest. Pause, skip or undo when you need to — from the phone or the Watch.
-
Review the splits
The finished session lands in your history with split times, so the next one has something to beat.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Workout Timer work on Apple Watch?
Yes. You can start and run a full session from the Watch, and the active session, your settings, saved trainings and history sync automatically with the iPhone app.
What template packs are included?
Tabata, HIIT, Strength, Bodyweight and Core. You can run one as it comes or use it as the starting point for a session of your own.
Can I build my own workout?
Yes. Add exercises, set each segment in meters, reps or seconds, reorder them, and save the result as a named training you can run again later.
Is it a Tabata timer?
Among other things, yes. There's a Tabata template pack for the classic short 20/10 interval sessions, plus HIIT, Strength, Bodyweight and Core packs.
Can it track distance on running segments?
Yes. Running segments can track live distance while you cover them. That uses location, and location access is optional — the rest of the app works without it.
What happens if I mistime a tap?
You can pause, resume, skip a segment, or undo recent actions mid-session. Nothing is locked in while the workout is running.
Does it do metric and imperial?
Both. You can switch units at any time, and the change applies across templates, custom sessions and history.
What does the history show?
Every completed session with its split times, so you can see how each segment actually went instead of only the total duration.
Is Workout Timer free?
The app is free to use for four sessions a month. Workout Timer Pro removes that limit and gives you unlimited sessions.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up — you can open the app and start a session straight away.
Do I need gym equipment?
No. The Bodyweight and Core packs are built to run with nothing but floor space, which is what makes it work as a home workout timer.
How do I get in touch about a bug or an idea?
There's a contact link in the app's Settings screen, and it reaches the developer directly.
